Beachy Green Leaves
Inspired by the low tide walks along the rugged beach at Whiskey Gulch, Alaska, a cherished family camping spot we’ve enjoyed for countless years, this piece captures the essence of those treasured moments. When a good low tide hits, a contrasting sandy sea floor is exposed, revealing an astonishing array of sea life finds that spark joy and curiosity.
The artistic process for this piece involved both layering vibrant alcohol inks, reminiscent of the stunning colors found along the beach, and an intricate overlay of green flowing sea plants thriving in the coastal area. Portions of ink from the leaves were lifted with isopropyl alcohol to represent the flowing nature that is the ocean.
