It all begins with an experience.

Wander. Explore. Collect. Inspire. Ignite. Paint. Express. Restore.

Meet the Maker

Hello Friend!

I’m Rachel Wall, the creative, maker and wanderer behind these art pieces and this page.

Much of my inspiration and many collections come after trips with my husband and three young children. Whether out exploring or driving long hours from destination to destination, this time surrounded by wild Alaskan wilderness allows ample time to take in the sights and landscapes.

Different seasons bring about different color schemes and texture palettes. Whether we’re traveling up north in the winter with its muted blues and cool pastels, or traveling south through mountain passes to the beach in search of vivid greens, magenta, violet or bright yellow, the landscape is always changing. Each series, or collection, is a grouping of colors, patterns and textures inspired from family adventures throughout the vast landscape that is Alaska.

When I’m not feverishly purging my gathered inspiration, I’m exploring with new techniques and processes. Experimenting with new colors, combinations and new layouts, or simply creating for the sake of creating. Play is hugely important to my creative process as it sparks new ideas. I have two mantras I artistically live by: just play, and just create. As an artist, I find I can be my own biggest obstacle. It’s easy to get stuck focusing on and forcing “good” art and planning too much . It's creatively stifling. Sometimes it’s best to just play,  enjoy the process, and see where the paints take me.
